I am excited to be part of the team at Restore Balance as a student clinician. I completed a Bachelors of Arts with Honours from the University of Toronto, and am now completing my Masters in Counselling Psychology with Yorkville University. I bring richly varied life experiences to my practice. After working and living in several different countries, I have set down roots back in the Quinte region and will be offering individual counselling services in Belleville.
I approach counselling from an integrative perspective with an over-arching focus on deep compassion for my clients and on helping clients develop self-compassion for themselves. I use a diverse toolbox of skills to deliver therapy tailored to each individual client and their unique needs – all with a sense of humour and respect for diversity. Some of the modalities I draw from include Psychodynamic Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy (PCT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Narrative Therapy.
I understand the courage it takes to seek help and eventually heal, and I strive to connect with clients collaboratively from a perspective of our shared common humanity. A warm, open and empathetic person, I am also very pragmatic and want to help you as efficiently as possible. Together we will help you to gain hope, pursue positive change and of course, restore balance.
I am passionate about horses, downhill skiing, hiking, yoga, fitness, film, theatre and art. Spending time pursuing my hobbies, spending time with friends and my blind cat Oats, helps me to restore balance in my life. This self-care helps me to help you best. I look forward to helping you restore balance in your life.
